Then, reality set in. It's unlikely that I could influence even 20% of the 43% of people who litter. The truth is:
The pay for cleaning jobs is often inadequate.
Despite low wages, these jobs are necessary and account for about 2% of available work.
The challenge is finding a balance between being environmentally conscious and preserving job opportunities.
Since I can't control others' actions, I decided to focus on what I can control:
my own behaviour.
By choosing not to litter, I'm doing my part to reduce pollution while trusting that there will still be enough work for cleaners due to the actions of others.
